Part of navigating any relationship is understanding your role. Roles like “spouse,” “parent,” “student,” “employee” all carry different expectations and responsibilities. When it comes to our role within the body of Christ, especially the local church, many of us lack clarity and confidence.
The Scriptures, however, are clear in their declaration that every Christ-follower has a specific and functional role in church life and ministry. In Paul’s letter to the Ephesians he identifies five roles that are critical for every church to flourish in its context: apostle, prophet, evangelist, shepherd and teacher.
In the Sunday teaching series, Role Call, we’ll also investigate why the church needs people to thrive in their roles and the dangers of what can happen when they don’t.
